Recent Developments in the IV Bags Market

  • In July 2024, Amneal Pharmaceuticals announced the approval of a New Drug Application (NDA) from the US FDA for its new potassium phosphates in 0.9% sodium chloride injection IV ready-to-use bags. The injection is used as a source of phosphorus for adults and pediatric patients with hypophosphatemia.
  • In February 2024, B. Braun Medical, Inc. announced the launch of its new Heparin Sodium 2,000 units in 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, 1,000 ml. The product is manufactured using EXCEL IV Containers, which are not made with natural rubber latex, DEHP, or PVC, prioritizing patient and environmental safety.
  • In January 2024, Baxter International announced the completion of the first phase of its IV bag recycling program pilot and further expanded the pilot program. The pilot program was launched in conjunction with Northwestern Medicine in Chicago and has diverted more than six tons (12,000 pounds) of PVC IV bag waste from landfills to be recycled for use in other nonmedical products.
