Different lung cells are used for culturing cells in laboratories. 2D models are grown on flat surfaces, while 3D models are grown using molds to replicate the actual shape of the lungs.

The major advantage of the growing lung model is that the experiments conducted are closely related to conducting experiments on real lungs.
